2002 CHEVY CAMARO - California Highway Patrol B4C unit number E1111739. NOTE: This is 1 of only 13 Black and White units that California bought in 2002 compared to purchasing some 60 plus White Ghosts.According to CamaroZ28.com, there were:
708 total B4C’s made in 2002, of those
583 of were automatic, and only
13 of those 583 were 01U Police Two Tone and all purchased by CHP
Therefore E1111739 is 1 of the ONLY 13 Black and White Camaro’s SOLD/MADE in 2002. All other 2002 Camaro’s that were two tone had the extra colors painted after delivery to the law enforcement agency such as Florida or Texas etc. Total Black B4C’s made for 2002 added up to 320 units or 54.9% of production versus the 2.2 % that were Black AND White.
They don’t get much rarer than this plus the car serving one of the most famous law enforcement agency in the country. Out of the 13, 3 went to the CHP EVOC course and the other 10 went to the different CHP districts. These units also came with the black interior versus the standard grey. Now, you can search the internet for the 13 black and white units and the ones that were used for promotional services and shows came with Chrome wheels. The 3 EVOC Black and Whites had the standard silver wheels. These cars did not come from the factory with the Chrome wheels (PW7 code) but were later bought by the CHP from GM for the remaining 10 Black and Whites. These Black and Whites were not on daily patrol like the White Camaro units. The main objectives of these cars were for promotional use for recruiting and car shows to generate interest in the CHP.
Unit E1111739 was retired in the Spring of 2010 at 82, 665 miles after its service. This ride came from the factory loaded like they all did with power window, power locks, power drivers seat, rear defrost, am/fm CD player and Cold A/C. Tires are Goodyear Eagle RSA ZR rated and are in great shape.
Some little known fact is that some of the 2001/2002 B4C’s came from the factory with the LS6 block and this one did.
